Product information
ARDEX P 52 is a primer concentrate for indoor floors, walls and ceilings. It can be diluted with water and used as a primer, bonding agent and pore sealer. It prepares substrates before applying levelling compounds, smoothing mortars or other finishes.
The primer binds residual dust and powdery particles and helps regulate suction. As a pore sealer, ARDEX P 52 prevents air bubbles from rising from the substrate and slows the premature loss of mixing water from levelling coats applied later. This provides a better base for a flat, stable finish.
ARDEX P 52 is suitable for cement screeds, concrete floors, smooth and dense substrates such as terrazzo, sandstone, tiles and boards, and existing substrates with well-bonded levelling compound and floor covering adhesive residues. It can also be used on smooth concrete walls and ceilings as a bonding agent for gypsum-based wall levelling compounds.
Application instructions
- The substrate temperature must be above +5°C.
- Outdoor use and use in permanently wet areas are not recommended.
- Drying time is approximately 90 minutes to 3 hours, depending on substrate absorbency and site conditions.
- On existing substrates, levelling compound and adhesive residues must be water-resistant, sufficiently load-bearing and firmly bonded to the substrate.
- Where polyurethane-, epoxy resin- or bitumen-based adhesive residues are present, ARDEX P 82 must be used as the bonding agent.
- Reseal opened containers tightly and use the contents promptly. Store upright and protect from frost.
Step-by-step guide
- Ensure the substrate is dry, firm and free from dust and separating layers.
- Pour ARDEX P 52 into a clean bucket and mix with water at the correct dilution for the substrate.
- Apply the primer evenly with a suitable brush or roller.
- Allow the primer to dry until a clear, thin film forms.
- Only then proceed with subsequent work, such as levelling or bonding.
- Choose the correct mixing ratio for the substrate, such as undiluted, 1:0.5, 1:1, 1:3 or 1:5.
