Product information
ARDEX FLEXBONE is a bonded uncoupling and waterproofing mat for floors and, in consultation with ARDEX, for walls. The system is designed for demanding substrates and heavily loaded applications that require extra reliability when laying tiles and other floor finishes. Its patented bone-shaped pattern, GripLock technology and strong bond absorb and transfer stresses from the substrate.
The mat is suitable for uncoupling ceramic tiles, natural stone and concrete tiles, as well as textile flooring, PVC, cushioned vinyl, luxury vinyl flooring, linoleum and multilayer parquet. ARDEX FLEXBONE can also serve as bonded waterproofing in wet areas in water exposure classes W0-I, W1-I, W2-I and W3-I without chemical exposure, in combination with the specified ARDEX system products.
ARDEX FLEXBONE consists of a specially shaped, rot-resistant plastic membrane approximately 3 mm thick, with a vapour pressure equalisation fleece on the underside. It is suitable for a range of substrates, including cement screeds, calcium sulphate screeds, mastic asphalt, dry screeds, timber floors, chipboard, existing tiles, existing PVC flooring and parquet. Underfloor heating is also permitted.
Application instructions
- Use only on flat, compression-resistant, load-bearing substrates that do not deflect.
- Permitted substrates include cement screeds, calcium sulphate screeds, mastic asphalt screeds, dry screeds, timber floors, chipboard, existing tiles, existing PVC coverings and parquet.
- Suitable for underfloor heating.
- Product height: approximately 3 mm.
- Weight: approximately 0.8 kg/m².
- Impact sound reduction: approximately 8 dB.
- Protect from direct sunlight and store frost-free.
- Always continue structural and expansion joints correctly through the build-up.
Step-by-step guide
- Ensure the substrate is flat, compression-resistant, load-bearing and free from layers that could impair adhesion.
- Level any uneven areas in the substrate beforehand where necessary.
- Protect moisture-sensitive substrates with a suitable primer or system build-up.
- Install ARDEX TP 50 perimeter insulation strips along adjoining walls and built-in elements.
- Lay or bond ARDEX FLEXBONE onto the prepared substrate in accordance with the correct system build-up.
- Always continue structural, connection and expansion joints through the mat and final floor covering in the same positions.
- Complete the chosen floor finish in accordance with the corresponding ARDEX system build-up.
- In wet areas, use in combination with ARDEX 7 + 8, ARDEX S7 PLUS W and ARDEX SK 12 TRICOM waterproofing tape where required.
