Product information
ROMFIX Easy Fijn is a single-component synthetic resin polymer jointing compound mainly used to prevent weeds in domestic applications such as private gardens and driveways carrying loads of up to 3.5 tonnes. The porous structure of ROMFIX Easy Fijn meets stringent water permeability requirements, making it an environmentally conscious choice. The product consists of over 98% natural and reused raw materials. Always check the colour of the lid when purchasing this product. ROMFIX Easy Fijn is available in neutral, stone grey, silver grey and basalt. The jointing compound is vacuum-packed; once exposed to oxygen, the synthetic resin polymer begins to cure. At a temperature of 20°C, you have approximately 2 hours to apply the product. ROMFIX Easy Fijn is easy to apply to clay paving bricks, concrete paving blocks and ceramic tiles, and is suitable for all types of paving with rough or smooth surfaces. The synthetic resin polymer that binds this jointing compound is transparent and does not leave the kind of visible haze on paving that occurs with cement-based joints. Once applied, this single-component paving jointing mortar is resistant to pressure washing. ROMFIX Easy Fijn is suitable for 2 cm ceramic tiles. This jointing compound is suitable for pool surrounds because it is resistant to chlorine and salt water.
Tip!
Is your paving laid on a cement-based bedding layer with cement residue still on the surface? Remove it beforehand using a cement cleaner suitable for the type of paving.
A considered choice
ROMFIX drainage bedding mortar and paving jointing mortar are designed with sustainability and circularity in mind. After years of use, our products can be recycled and given a new role in the material cycle.
Application
Application instructions
- Working time: 20–30 minutes at an application temperature of +20°C
- Substrate temperature: > 0°C
- Lower temperatures extend the curing time
- Higher temperatures shorten the curing time
- Ready for foot traffic after 24 hours; fully ready for use after
- 6 days (at a substrate temperature of approximately +20°C)
Step-by-step guide
- Clean the joints with a pressure washer to a minimum depth of 30 mm (minimum joint width 3 mm). For paving laid on drainage bedding mortar, a joint depth of 20 mm applies. Thoroughly clean the surface to be jointed.
- Protect adjacent surfaces that are not to be jointed. Dampen the surface to be jointed. Do not use too much water and ensure that no water remains in the joints.
- Remove the lid from the bucket and cut open the vacuum bag.
- Spread the paving jointing mortar evenly over the entire surface to be jointed.
- Add water to the paving jointing mortar. Moisten it sufficiently to flow readily into the joints. Do not add more water than necessary!
- Work the paving jointing mortar deeply and firmly into the joints using a rubber squeegee, compacting it as you go. Work diagonally wherever possible.
- Then sweep the surface with a soft broom until all mortar residue has been removed. Make sure you sweep diagonally! Do not reuse the remaining paving jointing mortar.
- No after-treatment is required. Residual material on the surface can still be removed with a stiff broom for up to 24 hours.

All the concrete paving slabs in my back garden have been jointed with romfix easy fijn. The clear explanation on the website meant I could apply it myself. My paving slabs have a much neater finish, and I have not had to remove any weeds for quite some time!
