Product information
ARDEX SK 12 is a TRICOM sealing tape for flexibly and watertightly bridging movement joints, perimeter joints, connections prone to cracking and openings. It is suitable for walls and floors, indoors and outdoors.
The tape is part of the ARDEX TRICOM waterproofing system and can be used with all ARDEX system waterproofing products. Its polypropylene fleece backing and laminated polyurethane carrier layer make the tape waterproof, easy to embed and robust in use. Its thin profile allows an almost seamless finish.
ARDEX SK 12 is suitable for all water exposure classes and can be used in wet areas, reservoirs, basins, balconies and patios, provided the rest of the installation follows the system requirements. The tape also has very low emissions and is resistant to weathering and alkali exposure.
Application instructions
- Use only with ARDEX waterproofing products or the ARDEX TRICOM system.
- When used with ARDEX SK 100 W, ARDEX 7 + 8 waterproofing adhesive must be used to embed the tape.
- The sealing tape must not come into direct contact with solvent-based waterproofing materials or adhesives.
- At joints, the tapes must overlap by at least 5 cm.
- Above the movement zone, leave an area of the same width free of waterproofing material.
- Seek technical advice before exposure to aggressive chemicals or contact with oils, fuels or alcohols.
- If in doubt, always carry out a trial application or compatibility test first.
Step-by-step guide
- Ensure the substrate is suitable and follow the instructions for the ARDEX waterproofing product being used.
- Cut the sealing tape to the required size.
- Immediately beforehand, apply the ARDEX waterproofing product using a roller, notched trowel or plastering trowel.
- Place the sealing tape directly into the fresh waterproofing product.
- Press the tape firmly into place using a trowel.
- Form a slight loop at movement joints or edges so that there is sufficient room for movement to be
- accommodated.
- Overlap joints by at least 5 cm or finish them with the same waterproofing product.
- Then apply the second waterproofing coat over the tape, corner pieces and sealing collars.
