ROMFIX Draindeco

ROMFIX Draindeco is a binder for decorative gravel and chippings. This two-component synthetic resin binds loose decorative aggregates together. Typical applications include tree pits, parking spaces, roof terraces, accessible footpaths, drip strips beneath thatched roofs and other public spaces. Draindeco is water-permeable and prevents gravel or chippings from spreading. It is ready to use and easy to apply, without adding water. Further benefits include reduced vandalism and maintenance, with a durable, neat finish for tree pits. One set of ROMFIX Draindeco binds 75 kg of gravel or chippings. Coverage per square metre depends on aggregate size, layer thickness and application. Its open voids provide ample water permeability, and it is ideal for gravel or chippings with a grading of up to 16 millimetres. Under heavy loads, including traffic loads, use ROMFIX E’ Grid to absorb tensile stresses at the underside. ROMFIX Draindeco is intended for dark decorative gravel and chippings. It is less suitable for light-coloured aggregates, marble, limestone and sand-lime brick because exposure to UV radiation can cause yellowing.

Flexible surface layer

ROMFIX Draindeco consists of two layers: a water-permeable sub-base at least 10 cm thick and a hardened 3 cm surface layer of epoxy resin-bound chippings. The chippings can no longer spread, and because the resin bonds only to the aggregate, it creates a gas- and water-permeable layer that can easily be shaped to any profile. Although the open structure is not completely weed-free, it can be cleaned with a pressure washer. Depending on the construction, the hardened surface layer can withstand traffic loads of approximately three tonnes. For traffic loads of approximately three tonnes, the recommended layer thickness is five centimetres over an unbound base and three centimetres over a water-permeable bound base. 

Tip! Use only clean decorative gravel or chippings. Rinse the dust off the aggregate and allow it to dry thoroughly before adding the two components.
