Stability on peaty ground

The challenge for this project was to sustainably construct a temporary road that would remain stable over a long period on the peaty ground in Zunderdorp.

A sustainable approach

How could we stabilise this as sustainably as possible? This temporary road combines ROMFIX R’Tex, E’Grid and R’Cellen (the ROMFIX system), filled with a lightweight foundation aggregate. Our aim was to minimise ground disturbance and transport during both installation and removal of the temporary road.

FEREX lightweight access mats. Together with FEREX, we explored different ways to prevent excessive ground settlement in both the short and long term. FEREX access mats are made from glass-fibre-reinforced plastic, combining low weight with exceptional load-bearing capacity.
