Lightweight manhole covers
Commissioned by Visser & Smit Hanab B.V., we developed and supplied lightweight manhole covers and frames for this project. Our innovative materials enabled us to provide a practical solution for challenging ground conditions.
An improved ground loading balance
Our ongoing search for new lightweight materials led us to develop a manhole frame weighing less than 10% of a conventional concrete frame. This proved valuable on the Sliedrecht project. The entire excavation in the peat was filled with lightweight washed pumice and finished at ground level with lava stone. The lightweight manhole frames make a substantial contribution to an improved ground loading balance.
