Eight ROMFIX jointing tips

Almost all ROMFIX jointing products use transparent polymer or epoxy resin, which leaves no cement haze.

Jointing tip #1:

Joint your paving only after all other work is complete. A glossy residue remains on the surface after jointing. It can be slightly sticky, so keep dirt, soil and sand off the paving.

Jointing tip #2:

If dirt does get onto freshly jointed paving, you can sweep it off within a few days. It is still better to keep the paving clean from the outset.

Jointing tip #3:

Jointing in the rain: ROMFIX Easy, Easy Fijn and Pro+ can be used in light rainfall. All other jointing products require dry conditions throughout.

Jointing tip #4:

Drying time depends on the jointing product. Check the relevant product data sheet. Please note that drying times are based on a temperature of 20°C. Cooler conditions may extend the drying time.

Jointing tip #5:

Joint around objects such as lamp posts, benches and bins. These areas are difficult to keep free of weeds. Jointing around them prevents weeds and leaves larger areas easier for a sweeper to reach.

Jointing tip #6:

Wet the paving first, except when using ROMFIX jointing sand. This reduces suction from the paving units. Concrete paving absorbs moisture particularly well and can draw it straight out of the jointing product unless it is pre-wetted. Wetting also makes application easier.

Jointing tip #7:

If the subgrade has poor permeability, avoid making the joints too wet. Standing water in the joints makes the product difficult to apply.

Jointing tip #8:

Allow enough time for the jointing to rest. Jointing is a finishing task, so complete other work, including laying the lawn, first. Wait at least 10 days before starting.
