Brush-in sand and polymeric jointing sand

Suitable for narrow joints (≥ 1 mm), light loads and permeable bases

Polymeric jointing sand consists of fine sand mixed with a polymer binder. Choose weed-inhibiting brush-in or polymeric sand when:

  • You are laying blocks, concrete paving or clay paving with narrow joints.
  • The base is permeable, without cement stabilisation.
  • You want a cost-conscious solution for lightly loaded patios, paths or driveways.
  • You want joints that remain slightly flexible and partially self-heal.

Important:

  • The paving units must be completely dry, including their sides.
  • Do not use in joints wider than 3 mm.
  • Do not apply over an impermeable base such as a cement-bound build-up.

One-component jointing mortar

Suitable for patios, paths, gardens, pedestrian areas and hard-to-reach places

One-component jointing mortar is ready-mixed and only needs activation with water. Choose it when:

  • You want a user-friendly, error-free solution for domestic use and smaller projects.
  • The paving carries light to medium loads, such as gardens, patios or footpaths.
  • Weed control is difficult around street furniture such as letterboxes, lamp posts and benches that sweeping machines cannot reach.
  • You want to work in drizzle, which one-component mortars tolerate better.
  • You want a more environmentally friendly solution. ROMFIX Easy Fijn uses 98% natural raw materials and can even freeze in storage.

Important:

  • Apply only over a permeable base or over drainage bedding mortar with a bonding agent.
  • Ideal for domestic use, without professional equipment.

Two-component jointing mortar

Suitable for heavy loads, intensive use, public spaces, driveways and parking areas

Two-component jointing mortar consists of resin and sand that must be mixed. It is the strongest jointing product in our range. Choose it when:

  • The paving carries heavy loads from cars, commercial vehicles or intensive cleaning.
  • Durability and a long service life are essential.
  • You need a solution that is permeable to both gas and water.
  • You are using a ROMFIX foundation, drainage bedding mortar and bonding agent and want the full system warranty.
  • You need joints that withstand pressure washing and intensive street use.

Installation in accordance with our advice qualifies for our five-year system warranty. See the separate warranty page for details.

Cement-based paving jointing mortar

Suitable for impermeable applications, specific types of stone, finishing work or tiling

Choose a cement-based jointing product when:

  • The joints must not let water through, for example under a canopy or over an impermeable base.
  • The base is either fully impermeable or bonded drainage bedding mortar with a bonding agent. Other build-ups can trap moisture.
  • You are working with specific absorbent natural stones or on indoor projects.

Please note: Many types of paving naturally let water through. Cement-based joints can cause problems in these situations. Unsure? Use the ROMFIX jointing guide.
