ARDEX K 36 NIEUW is a smoothing and levelling compound for indoor and outdoor floor surfaces. It is suitable for layer thicknesses of 3 to 30 mm and is designed for renovation projects requiring a strong, level substrate that is quickly ready to receive floor coverings. It is easy to apply and has good flow properties, allowing floors to be finished quickly to a smooth, even surface.
This levelling compound is suitable for dry and wet environments, including balconies, terraces and even permanently wet areas or underwater applications, provided the correct build-up is used. ARDEX K 36 NIEUW is therefore a versatile smoothing compound beneath tile coverings, concrete slabs and natural stone slabs. According to ARDEX, it is also suitable for laying large-format tiles over existing tiles.
The mortar is low-stress and quickly ready for foot traffic and floor coverings. It is also pumpable, making it suitable for larger areas and efficient application on site.
Application instructions
- Mixing ratio: approximately 5.75 litres of water per 25 kg of powder.
- Working time: approximately 30 minutes at +18°C to +20°C.
- Apply in layer thicknesses of 3 to 30 mm in a single operation.
- Apply at temperatures above +5°C.
- For floors with falls of up to 2 per cent, reduce the quantity of mixing water.
- Protect the levelling layer from drying too quickly due to sunlight or draughts.
- If the pump is stopped for more than 30 minutes, clean the machine and hoses.
- If in doubt, always carry out a trial area first.
Step-by-step guide
- Ensure that the substrate is level, firm, load-bearing, free from cracks and free from bond-inhibiting layers.
- Properly seal cracks and joints and prepare the substrate thoroughly.
- Depending on the substrate, apply a suitable ARDEX primer, such as ARDEX P 52.
- Mix 25 kg of ARDEX K 36 NIEUW with approximately 5.75 litres of clean water until lump-free.
- Apply the levelling mortar with a smoothing trowel or gauge rake to the required layer thickness.
- Finish the product within approximately 30 minutes.
- The levelling layer is ready for foot traffic after approximately 2 hours and can also receive tiles after approximately 2 hours.
