Product information
ARDEX A 58 is a low-shrinkage rapid screed cement for producing cement screeds that are quickly ready for use, whether laid on insulation, on a separation layer or bonded to the substrate. It is suitable for indoor and outdoor use and can also be used for cement screeds with underfloor heating. Thanks to its dimensionally controlled binder system, the mortar hardens virtually without shrinkage or stresses.
This screed is suitable for homes, commercial premises and heavy-duty industrial and commercial floors. ARDEX A 58 can be used as a base for tiles, natural stone and concrete slabs, resilient and textile floor coverings, parquet and coatings. Tiles can be laid after just 1 day. Resilient and textile floor coverings and parquet can be installed after 4 days.
The product has a long working and finishing time of approximately 120 minutes. Depending on the selected mixing ratio, strength classes of up to CT-C50-F7 can be achieved. This makes ARDEX A 58 a strong choice for projects where speed, load-bearing capacity and dimensional stability are important.
Application instructions
- Apply at temperatures between +5°C and +25°C.
- The mortar has a working time of approximately 120 minutes.
- Do not mix with other types of cement or screed additives such as accelerators or retarders.
- The maximum water/cement ratio is 0.40 when conventionally applied using a screed pump or forced-action mixer.
- For a 200-litre screed pump, the following guideline quantities apply: 1:4 with 75 kg of powder and approximately 300 kg of sand; 1:5 with 62.5 kg of powder and approximately 320 kg of sand; 1:6 with 50 kg of powder and approximately 300 kg of sand.
- Approximate material consumption per cm of layer thickness: 4.0 kg at 1:4, 3.3 kg at 1:5 and 2.9 kg at 1:6.
- Ready for foot traffic after approximately 1 day. Coatings can be applied after approximately 7 days.
Step-by-step guide
- Check that the substrate is dry, firm, load-bearing and free from separating layers.
- Where necessary, structurally bond cracks using a suitable ARDEX resin product.
- For bonded screeds, use ARDEX A 18 as a bonding slurry and apply the screed mortar into the freshly applied bonding slurry.
- Mix ARDEX A 58 with the appropriate quantities of screeding sand and water for the required strength class.
- Mix for 2 to 3 minutes until a homogeneous, semi-dry mortar that is easy to compact is obtained.
- Apply the mortar, screed off and compact the layer thoroughly throughout its full thickness.
- Protect the fresh screed against draughts, water, strong sunlight and rapid drying.
